a belated spring break photo...

hey all,

so some photos from spring break just came back... this is one of my favorites:

anyway, the fish was telling us the following joke:

what did the fish say when he hit the wall?

DAM!

cheers,

the aging game...

today, in our into to the patient course, we played the aging game... the closest parallel i can draw to it is from back in elementary school where we all used wheelchairs and whatnot to gain an appreciation of what it's like to be differently abled...

so, today, pretty much the same thing, but with an emphasis on those changes that come with aging, like loss of vision, hearing, physical functionality, self esteem, independence etc...

anyway, for me, the defining moment was being fed applesauce by an inattentive and insensitive nursing aide while i was sitting in my wheelchair, gown, and wearing my "cataracts"...

really something else...

HMO humor...

An eye doctor, a heart surgeon and an HMO executive die and are in heaven. God asks the eye doctor why he should be let into heaven, and the doctor explains to God that he helped people save or regain their sight. God says, ''Welcome to heaven, my son.''

God then asks the heart surgeon what he had done in life that should allow him into heaven. ''I saved people from death from heart attacks and heart disease,'' the doctor replies. ''Welcome to heaven, my son,'' God says.

God then turns to the HMO executive. God asked him what he was, and the man replied that he worked for an HMO. ''Welcome to heaven, my son,'' says God, ''but you have to leave in two days.''

Bill Simmons on NBA Celeb Charity Fantasy Basketball...

anyway, if you follow Simmons at all, i'm sure you're aware of his unbelievable participation in the NBA Celeb Charity Fantasy Basketball league... how he qualifies as a celebrity is beyond me...

but regardless, check out his victory dance of an interview at NBA.com--it's high comedy... especially his lancing of Kenny Smith...

i'll be shocked if he's ever invited back to the TBS studio, and, if he is, I can't wait to hear Barkley on the matter...

cheers,

chunky monkeys...

A little joke of the day for y'all...

What do you call a trash bag full of mutilated laboratory monkeys?

Rhesus Pieces...

Oh god, that one gets me every time...

soul position...

last night, diana, ashlee, tushar and i headed up to the triple rock social club in minneapolis to check out the Rhymesayers act Soul Position...

all i can say is that it was easily the best twelve bucks i've spent on anything this last year...

you can check out their myspace page... they've got a couple tracks to download... and i've got all their cds if you're interested in borrowing...

but, today, we're all paying the price... just exhausted and struggling to pull ourselves through renal and a musculoskeletal exam tomorrow... rough... weeknight trips to the cities exact a high toll... good to know for future reference...

anyway, back to the grind...

Brick...

last saturday, we tripped to the cities for two flicks at the uptown and lagoon theaters... one, Thank You For Smoking, I imagine is already on your radar, and it's really as good as the critics say...

but the other film we saw, Brick, is the one that I keep thinking about... just a really interesting spin on film noir set in SoCal with a youngish crowd--i keep thinking that it's the day dream of some uber creative guy just like the protagonist...

make sure you get the dialogue primer before you go (should be available in the theater lobby)... just an really interesting film...

you'll like it... check out the official site above...

cheers,

home star runner...

somehow, when this whole Strong Bad thing was introduced to me recently by JChang and his beau, I just felt like I had missed out on something generationally...

anyway, I really enjoy these little animated shorts... weird, strange, and funny...

warning: not for the linear thinker...

cheers,

pan fried pea-snaps...

a video-collage of a near-classic David Cross bit about a gay man ordering at the pizza counter with twenty people waiting behind him...

interesting, not super... but it take it for what it's worth...
